The name Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu means different things to a wide array of people.
When it comes to your patients at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi you are the skilled professor that they crave to have the privilege of being cared for by members of your medical team.
To the patients at Life Specialist hospital, Prof. is that very busy but highly result oriented Physician who they feel fulfilled having him attend to them.
Infact for those who can afford the cost of his services, who for personal reasons do not appreciate seeking medical care in government owned institutions, Life Specialist hospital has continued to be their best place for healthcare with respect to fertility related issues and child birth in Nigeria.
The typical Nigerian elite with deep pocket who for any reason misses travelling overseas to give birth to their child, especially for those who have encountered Prof. Ikechebelu’s professional services always pay any fee to have their wives attended to till child birth by Prof.
Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu to the regular conscious undergraduate at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, is that Deputy Vice Chancellor for administration who is up and doing at his task, who most staff of the university often still wonder if he ever has any time ever to rest or eat because of the finesse and promptness with which he delivers his assignment.

The Abagana born skilled professor of obstetric and gynaecology comes off to me and some other of my fellow alumni from College of Health Sciences, Okofia Nnewi as a benevolent man whose style of philanthropy must be commended.
Having played an active role in recruiting the real people that needed scholarship during his tenure as the Dean Of faculty of medicine for which he rewarded me for my honesty by enrolling me into the programme, I can tell you that Prof is a man who always wants value for money.
To him academic scholarships must be for those who are serious and willing to put in the work to achieve a minimum cumulative grade point of 2.1 every session while they benefitted from it.
Beyond the act of philanthropy, scholarly stardom and professional excellence which I know him for, I also know him as one unusual highly placed man who reads all my messages, responds where he has to and never misses to update his WhatsApp status very early every morning with bible quotations or verses.
How can we talk about how Prof. Joseph is perceived without making clear mention of the quotient of trust he has garnered from the international community such that they are always eager to professionally partner with any organization he solidly recommends?
The man his mates call Joe is a skilled man in the academia, medicine and tech. He is one man whose deliberate commitment towards being the best of himself and the favor of God has helped to rise significantly in life.

Prof. is no longer talking about money for what to eat, drink, wear or property to own rather he is now obsessed with trans generational impact toned engagements. He is all about mentorship of younger ones and building of institutions.
There are so many things to say about Prof. Ikechebelu but permit me to summarise this write up with the fact that the story of this great Anambra State son whom I regret greatly that he didn’t fully assume the position of the Vice Chancellor of my alma mata, should encourage every youth to look upto God, work very hard at whatever task you are given and never stop improving yourself if you must play in the big leagues of life.
Above all, Prof’s simplicity speaks so much to the true essence of life.
It is your birthday dear erudite professor, we wish you the best of life from a place of joy and gratitude.
For those who once benefitted or are still benefitting from your milk of human kindness, it is my prayer that you would continue to be blessed by God to bless humanity.
Cheers to the very best of life ahead of you and please do not give up on contributing your quota towards the development of the Nigerian education system.
