Flier for the Liquid Gold Project Campaign

Our commitment to our communities through service.

Note; A click on the highlighted texts takes you to publications i have made in the past about community projects i have executed.

Owing to the quality of man i had as a father while growing up, I became primed from a very tender age on why I must grow up into an adult that commits my all to serving my community at all times.

During my undergraduate education years at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Okofia, Otolo Campus Nnewi, it was a time of exclusive service for me as i was an active member of the student union government and a Rotaractor in action.

Service to humanity has always been an area of strength for me and most of my peers.

Community service is what I have done all my life ranging from prison and motherless baby’s homes visitations during my undergraduate days at Nnewi, coordinating all forms of charities to support the indigent while we were undergraduates, Afara prison Umuahia visitation in 2017 (Love is Life Project), purchase of so many books and other household items which were given to teachers and pupils of Amaku Nvosi primary school Isiala Ngwa south in recent past.

All these were publicly funded and documented on my Facebook page.

One of the most recent community services I rendered was done some few years ago when I asked for phenomenal teachers from public schools to be nominated, who we rewarded with some sums of money to thank them for the thankless job a lot of them do.

We did that because we know that no society develops beyond the quality of its education system.

Values are actively imbibed in children early through quality education and that explains why we prioritized this section of our society’s population (teachers) which are always rarely appreciated, to reward them.

Liquid Gold Campaign and the inspiration behind it.

  • Aunty Chy’s Death; Three specific events happened that primed my mind for this project which I and my team are mobilizing massively for. One of them happened during the course of last year precisely in December 2024, one of my most cherished friends and brother lost his beloved Aunty to the monster called sickle cell anaemia disease.

Aunty Chy as she was fondly called was loved by her siblings, nephews and nieces. She was always present on their big days to celebrate with them. Owing to great quality medical care which she accessed while she was here probably because she could afford it in part and also had unrestrained access to medical professionals, she died at a relatively older age from sickle cell anemia disease. While she lived, I knew that she often had routine blood transfusions and medical visits to stay strong and healthy, despite that towards her last days her blood producing organs literarily failed.

  • Barr. Nwabueze Tracy Nwandinma’s death; The second event was that of my cousin who died of inflammatory breast cancer in Abuja. Barrister Tracy Nwandinma Nwabueze was a great lady who had a great future ahead of her but along the line, the life of the mother of two young kids was cut off painfully after fighting so long to beat cancer.

During the course of her chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatment, I literarily witnessed the torture that the nuclear family had to go through to source blood pints which she would be transfused with, and it dawned on me that the lack of voluntarily donated blood in our blood banks across the country is a huge challenge which we must in our own little way address.

A new dawn in my nuclear family;

When a focused man meets a woman that appeals to his sense of sight, pleasure, value system and taste in woman. One of the most predictable things to do if you are not married yet, is to seek for ways to perpetually make this woman who meets your criteria, whom you also hope you met her criteria become wholly yours.

That was what I was able to do with the young, beautiful, homely and ever smiling lady from Asaga Ohafia, whom I randomly sat in a public bus some years back on my way from Nnewi to Aba in a Peace mass transit with. On the 7th of December 2024 I made it official that I had assumed full ownership.

Journey to ethical fatherhood

As a young bachelor, one thing I dreaded to my bones was having a child out of wedlock. Moreso it is unfortunate that fear of having a child out of wedlock alone cannot prevent you from facing that reality if it eventually happens as a result of the rebellious nature of the male’s hormones in the presence of a lady who satisfies one’s taste in the opposite sex.

For some reasons which was outrightly never borne from a place of sound moral or spirituality, I got married as a man with no child out there. This was purely an act of God and not one borne from a place of either being disciplined or chaste.

The January first breaking news

So, when my duly wedded wife, whom I had told earlier that we needed six uninterrupted (6) months to enjoy ourselves exclusively as new couples with the hope to know each other more, came to meet me on the first (1st) of January clutching a test strip on her hand.

The next thing i heard from her is that the test strip was positive for hCG. I did not know what to feel at the time but at least it was not a sense of urgency to “conceal” the public evidence of what we had been doing in private.

The pathology threat that scared us

During the course of the pregnancy, my wife had an unscheduled surgery for appendectomy in January which we feared would compromise our pregnancy, but we were wrong as at the full term of the pregnancy journey, Chi’m – ama -nda, Ngozichukwu – kanma ( her mother’s and female cousin’s birthday mate) came forth at Divinecare hospital Otolo Nnewi under the professional, compassionate, gifted hands and ever watchful eyes of Professor Anthony Ositadinma Igwegbe.

Crown it to say that while Aunty Chy’s and Barr. Tracy Nwabueze demise struck me somewhere deep, the joy which we had as a result of the arrival of our daughter spurred me to commemorate my first birthday as a father in a way that would be of great benefit to my society while I mourned our loss.

Liquid Gold Project for humanity and its deliverables.

The name of this project, liquid gold speaks to the precious nature of human blood which we all lack the ability to produce on our own. “Together to the end” entails to speak to one of the deliverables of the project which would be for us to follow every pint of blood donated till the point that it is transfused to a patient at no cost to the patients.

However, i have been a voluntary blood donor in the past as can be seen in the picture attached here and I know what a gift of a pint of blood can entail.

This precious commodity (blood) is one which has saved a lot of lives across the world, but which is often inadequate in most African communities and often lead to preventable deaths. This is why i have assembled a team of professionals and very brilliant minds with international and local exposure, to handle this project.

Our lofty dream

Our aim is to have our voluntary donors all over Nigeria who would have indicated their interest to donate months ahead, furnish us with the details of where they are, so that we can link them up to where they can seamlessly donate their blood, while we pay for the blood screening, blood banking services and if possible cross matching service fees, so that our beneficiaries can have these pint of blood at no cost when the need arises but if they must pay to have these units of blood which they would not be under obligation to replace, then it should be the least amount of money. The drive is aimed at having a minimum of one thousand (1,000) voluntary donors only on the 17th of January 2026.

We are hopeful that our friends based overseas where they have more functional blood banking systems can also donate to their various community blood banks, while sharing the contact details of such facilities with us.

My team have expressed interest to push the Liquid Gold project for humanity; together to the end 2026 campaign beyond next year.

Partnership

While we are exploring the option of working with a whole lot other institutions which includes but are not limited to faith-based organizations, it is worthy to note that National Blood Service Agency Headquarters have unequivocally committed to be part of this project.

This project is being coordinated by my friends of so many years who have proven to be goal and result oriented, at no financial cost to me.

In the years to come, what would do together in terms of service to our communities would be mindblowing.

Funds for project execution

The funds with which to pay for these screening services would be raised from the public and this would entail full disclosure about the funds raised on my social media handles stating in unambiguous terms, how every kobo is spent and if peradventure anything is left over after the project execution in terms of financial resources, we would use such to buy books, which would be shared in government owned schools in any chosen state of interest, preferably those schools where their pupils and teacher are doing well in terms of performance and having a system that ensures repetitively attaining success.

Conclusion

Many Nigerians have never donated blood before in their lives. Some have donated but are suspicious that their blood pints which they gave voluntarily was sold to patients at a fee.

Some other people are of the opinion that taking a paltry 350 mls from their >4,500 – 5,400 mls may put their lives at risk.

Take this from us today, once you are not a commercial blood donor and didn’t take any form of hematinic and your basic predonation tests and vitals suggest that you are good to donate.

Know that you are among the few privileged people ordained by God to save lives and please do not shy away from such divinely ordained responsibility.

For every pint of blood that would be donated for this project, it would be our duty to let you the voluntary blood donor know when the blood is transfused and appreciate you for this selfless task.

We look forward to your coming on board however you wish to join us on this project to make it a reality. Kindly share these details with those in your corner. You can reach us on +234 806 405 3887 or the comment section of this blog post to get all the details you would need.
