Growing up as a child somewhere in Nbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North a town blessed by God in so many ways but grossly underexplored, education was shown to me as one of the tools with which I could escape poverty only if I take its acquisition serious.
With a mother who offered her entire life to the teaching profession, there is a sense in which teachers at that time looked very nice, decent, appealing and urbane to me. To me they were great assets to helping people escape poverty.
This philosophy continued to hold a prime position in my mental space till the year 2000 when I moved from my small local community to Adventist Secondary Technical College Owerrinta, Abia State for my secondary education.
My admiration for teachers was not because of the fact that they were rich as they are often not, it was clearly because of the fact that I got to know that they were instrumental to the training of the then richest and influential people we knew in Nbawsi being Dr. Chibuike Mbuko, Dr. Mbuko of Central Hospital and Dr. Aliche who were all medical doctors.

Then I had not come in contact with politicians to even know that the vocation was one of the easiest ways to escape poverty in our society once you can steal daringly without conscience. No wonder majority of Nigerian youths now aspire to be “career politicians”.
Teachers looked great to me and were worth being admired till I got to secondary school where I saw the kids of rich men and women who lived in big cities who came with very great looking vehicles on visiting days to visit their kids.
While the teachers never lost their appeal to me, I knew that it was a profession that would not make one rich and as such could only be admired and not aspired to.
Business, medical practice and politics were the only ways to amass wealth and become relevant in the society to my younger self.
This philosophy of mine was formed on the premise that despite the volume of time, energy and commitment my mother gave to her teaching profession, her financial needs were still a struggle to offset.

Nigerian politicians with the support of the Nigerian people have also made the teaching profession one of the worst appealing careers because their welfare has not always meant anything to these governments.
When I arrived at College of Health Sciences Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Okofia Nnewi campus for my 200 level in the year 2010, having this Mgbuji, Eha -Amufu Enugu state son as my teacher reminded me of the good teachers I had met through my educational path in life.
The man being talked about here is the man we call Mr. Sam whose full name is Mr. Ogenyi Samuel. Unknown to him, he made me understand that you can be a great tool for the development of your society even as a teacher.
The Nnamdi Azikiwe University graduate of the department of parasitology and entomology who went on to further his studies to become a Medical Laboratory Scientist seem ordained by God to teach at a time most lecturers are routinely known for all forms of exploitation of their students, irresponsible actions and indifference towards their job.

Dr. Samuel Ogenyi never comes to class to harass students with the quotation of scriptures and invitations to religious events, but his lifestyle made some of us love his God absolutely because he lived out Christ in his daily engagements with his undergraduate and post graduate students.
Dr. Samuel Ogenyi, a son of a teacher got into Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2008 as a teacher and till date the major reviews we have had of him from the students who are lucky to have passed through him are majorly mind-blowing news of excellence, commitment, sincerity and empathy when it comes to discharging his duty.
Personally, my experience of him is such that I would continue to talk about how excellent, skilled and compassionate he is till the day I lose the ability to express myself because in our world, it is rare to see men who do not attach a fee to being nice.

Dr. Samuel Ogenyi has always been so obsessed with the job of lecturing that for each time I dare to ask him what on earth inspires him to give in so much to this his job, he often tells me that he sees it as his duty to God and that it is his contribution to making Nigeria a better society.
Many Medical Laboratory Scientists are practicing all over the world today because a man like Dr. Sam and his colleagues did their jobs to the very best of their ability even when the motivation was non-existent from the state.
In the course of reading through this article, you would see beautiful screenshots of random comments made by various alumni of faculty of medical laboratory science paying glowing tributes to this dedicated civil servant who deserves every commendation he gets for the selfless and thankless work he is doing in Okofia one remote village in Nnewi, Anambra State for humanity.
When you are confronted with the terror offered by some black souled lecturers who derive fulfilment from the pain and tears of their students, I would want you to know that there are still Nigerians who have strong formed values who are committed to being men of integrity and excellence.
When I see some political office holders and businessmen paying for national awards, my heart often bleeds because if Nigeria is a society that has the slightest intention to work for all, men like Dr. Samuel Ogenyi ought to be appreciated publicly for the thankless work he and other teachers are doing behind the scenes for humanity.

For a young man who is reputed to have held so many leadership positions in his institution of work without blemish, it is necessary to remind you my dear reader that men with such conviction as Dr. Samuel should be promoted to be able to play more national roles especially if honesty, capacity, integrity and excellence are needed in the delivery of such tasks.
Therefore, when he lost his beloved father some years ago, alumni of faculty of medical laboratory science unanimously supported him with some tangible sum of money to encourage him to keep being good and nice to people.
When Dr. Samuel Ogenyi shared with me how frustrated he feels seeing youths wasting away in his community and how he is working hard to shore up resources with which he would support them by offering scholarships to them, assisting them learn skills and equipping some of them for commercial agriculture, without thinking it through I made a promise that when he is ready, he can count on me to support him with my platforms.
Without consulting anyone, I know that Dr. Samuel lives a life where his word has consistently remained his bond, and I am sure that with such a foundation he would transparently transform his community for good.

Dr. Samuel Ogenyi is not the kind of man to lobby for appointment, but I am well aware that wherever excellence, integrity and commitment to duty is needed, having a man like Dr. Sam take up such tasks is the respite you would definitely need.
Finally, it is necessary that we at The Okeh Onyekachi Brand Blog remind you our highly esteemed audience that if Nigeria must be great, public servants who are thanklessly discharging their functions, must be acknowledged and saddled with more responsibilities for us to have a more excellent society where hardwork, sincerity, performance and diligence at tasks are rewarded.
Dr. Samuel Ogenyi has been in this business of teaching for over eighteen years with so many scholarly publications to his credit, and it is mind-blowing to see that he has maintained a consistent reputation of excellence and responsibility, which I believe the younger generation can learn from.

I am a living testimony too, he touched my life positively
Testimonies abound to how much of an excellent man he. His likes must be encouraged and celebrated. He is indeed a good man who is committed to the job he has chosen which is teaching.
Dr. Sam Ogenyi has always been a very considerate man. I was his student and I graduated with a first class honours last year. We need more men like him in the society and he deserves all the accolades he can get. I’m very grateful for his input in my academic pursuit.
Big congratulations to you on this big feat. Dr. Samuel Ogenyi is a good man by all indices and we must endeavour to encourage men of his social disposition in the acedemia to do so much more in the interest of the system.
